A DAY IN AVONDALE: A HOMEMADE FESTIVAL CELEBRATES ITS THIRD YEAR
A grassroots event from the Avondale Neighborhood Association showcases the uniquely Avondale arts scene.
The highly anticipated A Day In Avondale returns Saturday, September 27 from 11 am to 6pm in a new, pedestrian friendly location along Milwaukee Avenue between Kimball and Central Park. The 2014 festival theme is “Homemade,” transforming Milwaukee Avenue into various rooms of a home made by, for, and about the community in this free-admission, family friendly event.
Visitors will enjoy live music performed on the “Front Porch” at the new Woodard Plaza, authentic sofrito making lessons in the “Kitchen” at the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, and “The Story Attic,” an installation and performance presented by Voice of the City that explores what might be found in the attic of someone who was an important part of local history. Dozens of other never before seen art experiences will be announced along with sidewalk sales hosted by local businesses and residents in the community.
Save the date for our A Day in Avondale Fundraiser, July 30th at Moe’s Tavern (2937 N. Milwaukee Ave.) from 6-8pm. We will have great raffle prizes from local artists and businesses as well as celebrity bartenders 35th Ward Alderman Rey Colón and soon to be 39th District State Representative Will Guzzardi!
Your donations go straight to supporting our local artists and building our community!
